We NEED feminism for a myriad of reasons, and it is for those reasons that posts like this need to be critiqued. This overtly extreme and presumptuous attack is exactly what has been hindering the feminist movement. Society already marks feminism as whining- bra-burning-male-haters we do not need them to further extend our hands of guard. Now lets get to it… Feminism is not as this photo suggests- about feeling as though we now have a golden ticket to push forth whatever ideology we wish because we feel bitter about the past. T.S Eliot- one of the greatest poets of the 20th Century J.R.R Tolkien.- The Hobbit? Lord of the Rings? A.A Milne- Winnie the Pooh?
Dare anyone claim that these male authors were ‘advised’ to use their initials to sell to a female market?
It is so so so very important that we make light of situations like this, because feminism is something that is so easy to turn a blind eye to- because injustice has been so easily regulated into the norm. 'It's just the way things are' is not an acceptable response to gender based stereotypes and 'Boys will just be boys' should no longer be a response as to why I feel uncomfortable being stared and honked at while I cross a busy intersection.
We need to spend more time on real issues at hand- not fucking trying to make guesses behind an authors success in the literary world…

Reincarnation of my boyfriend

(via mygiftismycurs-e-deactivated201)

As women, we are taught to be tiny. To have small bodies, to never be imposing. The ideal of our gender are thin and childlike, hairless and dainty. We are defined by our bodies; defined by our control over them. We are taught to obsess over our physicality and to be repulsed by our desires and intelligences.
We are taught to walk scared late at night. We cradle our keys between our perfectly manicured fingers, walking gracefully like a baby antelope in a herd of lions. That our virginity defines our character. That I am a frigid bitch if I do not fuck him, and a dirty slut if I do.
